The clinical depression is a state in which the person has difficulty in proper sleeping, eating and finds it difficult to concentrate on his daily routine work. It has also been discovered that a person may face the problem of depression once in his life or may face it many times in a lifetime. People suffering from clinical depression lose interest in their day to day life and feel depressed especially, early in the morning. It has also been found that the people having a family history of depression are at a greater risk of developing clinical depression.</p>
<p>The common symptoms of clinical depression are</p>
<ul>
<li>The person with depression has a feeling of guilt.</li>
<li>The depressed person feels that he or she is worthless.</li>
<li>Feeling of lack of concentration is the most common symptom of clinical depression.</li>
<li>Weight loss and loss of appetite are clear cut signs of clinical depression.</li>
<li>The depressed person feels tired and worn out during the day time.</li>
<li>The person in a state of depression may think of committing suicide.</li>
<li>The depressed person faces the problem of lack of sleep or oversleeps.</li>
<li>Feelings of restlessness or laziness are signs of clinical depression.</li>
<li>The depressed individual loses interests in the activities that usually attract him or her before.</li>
<li>Complaint of stomach pain or headache is reported in persons suffering from clinical depression.</li>
<li>The clinically depressed person shows violent behavior and attitude.</li>

<p>For diagnosing clinical depression, the patient should have more than five or more of the above mentioned signs and symptoms for a period of at least two weeks time interval. Some researches have highlighted the fact that the clinical depression can be treated with the passage of time also.</p>
<p>There are treatments available for getting rid of clinical depression. The treatment includes medical treatment and counseling to get rid of the depression. What happens in depression is that the neurotransmitters of the depressed person do not work properly, resulting in a state of depression. These neurotransmitters are part of neurons or nerve cells and pass signals from the brain to the other remaining body. The anti-depressants are there to help correct the neurotransmitters to get rid of the problem of depression.</p>
<p>Various types of anti-depressants are Sertraline (Zoloft), fluxotine (Prozc), fluvoxamine (Luvox), Escitalopram (Lexapro). These drugs are extremely useful for treating clinical form of depression. Apart from giving drugs or anti-depressant, psychotherapy or counseling is also given to cure symptoms of depression. The various types of psychotherapy for treating depression are:</p>

<li>Interpersonal therapy.</li>
<li>Cognitive behavior therapy.</li>
<li>Family therapy.</li>
</ul>
<p>There are many reasons for the onset of clinical depression like death of near and dear ones and intake of alcohol or tobacco. It has also been noticed that improper working of thyroid gland also triggers of clinical depression. It is observed that in females the changes that take place during menstruation, puberty, miscarriage and pregnancy thus, increasing the chances of clinical depression. In men, the alcohol intake or intake of habit forming products also leads to the state of clinical depression.</p>
